As the road to heaven remains full of mist to believers of all religions, the discussion of what the right path to this destination has never been concluded.

Is there a story unfolding in your community? Let Hivisasa know

Just as God sends his people to rescue the masses from sin, one would try to follow these carriers of glad tidings but still be stuck somewhere: how do you separate the real rescuers from predators?

With the freedom to creed and worship being exercised in the country, Kenya has seen a host of men of God, some of whom have been accepted here and others there, but most of whom carry controversy within their collars.

But the religious freedom has not been short of 'prophets' viewed as holy among a faction and taken as blasphemous among another.

Elsewhere there have been those who arose and proclaimed that they were God, much to the jubilation of their supporters and scorn of those on the other side.

One such deity has been Jehovah Wanyonyi, whose works we shall put side by side with the works of self-proclaimed Prophet Dr David Owuor.

In the religion of Jehovah Wanyonyi, he insisted that he was to be worshipped and told worshippers that he was what the Abrahamic religions refer to as the Almighty God.

In this sense, he subscribed to part of the Christian doctrine and claimed to be the one who sent Jesus Christ to rescue humanity.

However, tale went, since humanity had rejected Christ, Wanyonyi himself as 'Jehovah' descended to the world to liberate it through his church called the Lost Israelites church.

On his part, Dr Owuor who has been in Nairobi for a crusade this weekend has not claimed to be a deity but says humanity must listen to his teachings or perish in hell.

To his supporters, Owuor is a prophet sent by the Almighty God to straighten a generation lost in sin and in need of repentance.

In similarity, the two have claimed to heal diseases like HIV/AIDS.

In what a section of religious enthusiasts have given doubt and raised controversy, Owuor has been said to perform miracles where cripples are said to regain their balance and the blind their sight.

Questions are, are they both right? Could Jehovah Wanyonyi have sent Prophet Owuor and then he (Wanyonyi) descended himself to assist in the ministry of his prophet?

Is one of them wrong? Then which among the two factions of supporters will say their man is blasphemous?

Or are they both wrong? Could it be that they are both riding on the manipulation of human psychology through the instilling of fear and false hope in their people?

The answers to these questions are tough to get. As we said, the road to heaven remains misty.

Even though Jehovah Wanyonyi died three years ago in his Chemororoch village in western Kenya, his church still lives on.
