A 47-year-old man hanged himself using a mosquito net after his sick wife allegedly denied him food.
The incident happened on Tuesday night in Kiomoso in Kitutu Masaba, Nyamira County.
Locals said the late Charles Matonda returned home drunk and asked his sick wife, Elizabeth Kerubo to serve him food in vain.
"Matonda chased his sick wife from the house when she refused to give him food. He locked himself in the house to sleep only for his lifeless body to be found dangling from the roof of the house at the sitting room on Wednesday morning," said a local Victor Mogesa.
Mogesa said Kerubo recovered the body when she went to pick a sweater from the house and raised alarm.
Area assistant chief Antony Bosire said Matonda was troublesome under the influence of alcohol.
"I have been warning Matonda against alcohol consumption but, he could not hear me. He killed himself just because his wife told him there was no food for him after he came home drunk," said Bosire.
He said the body was moved to Nyamira hospital morgue.
The chief warned married men against beating and chasing their wives from home.
