There was a beehive of activities at Moi University main campus in Kesses last week as the first years, popularly known as freshers were being admitted.
The usually busy pavements were filled with inocnet faces of the new students, some accompanied by their parents and guardians while others came just by themselves.
Once admitted successfully, a majority of the freshers could not hide their happiness as their dreams of joining a university came true.
We caught up with some of those that were admitted and here is what they had to say;
"I'm really happy to join campus, am very ready for campus life," said Kevin Nganga.
"I am very happy to be here. I really appreciate my parents for the gift of education and I hope life here on campus will be the best," noted a seemingly happy John Kiptoo.
Another student Joy Jeptoo was all smiles as she said, "Wow! maze I feel happy. I was waiting eagerly for this great day.
"I come from Mombasa and I thank God for this far. I hope maisha itakuwa poa hapa" Saida Amina said.
The admission exercise did not lack any light moments as a student was spotted coming in with a metal box, probably the one used by high school students.
It is unusual for a university guy to report to campus with the metal box, as bags have always been a preference for carrying personal belongings in universities.
Perhaps Moi University should next time make it clear to freshers that they should not report on the admission day with metal boxes but rather look for a bag that would accommodate their belongings.
