Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior has urged Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua to iron out their political differences for the sake of the community's unity ahead of 2022.
The Senator says that Kalonzo and Mutua must reach out to each other in the spirit of the handshake and unite for the sake of the Kamba unity and Kenyans.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Thursday, the Wiper Senator said that Ukambani has to unite to increase its chances of ascending to power in 2022.
The senator said that the community will have an upper hand of producing a president if Kalonzo, Mutua and other top leaders put aside their differences.
He said that the community has lagged behind in terms of development because of disunity among its leaders.
"My plea is to our party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Governor Alfred Mutua, and all other Kamba leaders to come together and push the Kamba agenda forward.
He said that disunity among Kamba leaders will only make the region to continue lagging behind on development.
"We must take the advantage of the handshake and bring our people together instead of continued enmity," he added.
Kalonzo and governor Mutua fell out in 2013 and are not seeing eye to eye politically.
The two leaders have often engaged in ugly public spats with Kalonzo accusing Mutua of betrayal.
Mutua, on the other hand, has been accusing Kalonzo of allegedly being the obstacle to Ukambani development agenda.
On Thursday during an interview on KTN, Mutua said that he is ready to work with Kalonzo.
He said that he is waiting for a handshake between him and Kalonzo.
Last week, the embattled governor lauded Kalonzo's decision to support and work with President Uhuru Kenyatta's government.
Both Kalonzo and Mutua are eyeing to succeed President Kenyatta in 2022.
