Residents of Bomachoge Chache constituency in Kisii have vowed not to re-elect their member of parliament, Alfah Miruka, come 2022 after he was accused to be among those who took the Sh10,000 bribe to shoot down the mercury sugar report.

During the 2017 general elections, Miruka was elected under the Kenya National Congress (KNC) party after he promised to cater for the people's interests and improved the constituency's infrastructure.

"We cannot re-elect selfish people into power. We voted him to represent our interest but has now changed to serve his pocket," said Reuben Chacha, a youth leader in the constituency.

According to the residents, they have had no development since they voted in their MP regardless of their multiple requests.

"We still have our problems despite his promising manifestos. We have no water, we have bad roads, insecurity are just a few of our problems," said Mary Kwamboka.

Other Kisii Member of Parliament dragged in receiving the bribed include; Ezekiel Machugo - Nyaribari Masaba, Silvanus Osoro - South Mugirango, Zadock Ogutu - Bomachoge Bobaru, Innocent Obiri - Bobasi, Vincent Kemosi - West Mugirango and John Oroo - Bonchari Constituency.

Efforts to hear from Miruka bore no fruits as he did not respond to our calls.
