Deputy President William Ruto on Friday visited the family of Zambian High Commissioner to Nairobi who died earlier this week in a Nairobi hospital.
Madam Brenda Muntemba, 49, died this week after months of hospitalisation following an accident at Lukenya area few weeks ago in Machakos County.
Kenya, through Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma, sent condolences to the family, describing the deceased as a top diplomat who fought for mutual cooperation between Nairobi and Lusaka.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Brenda Muntemba, the High Commissioner of Zambia to Kenya, last night,” said Ms Juma, adding: “I convey my deepest condolences and those of Kenyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs to her family, friends and colleague Joe Malanji, for this great loss."
And on his part, Dr Ruto described the deceased as an astute diplomat who endeavored to strengthen mutual cooperation between the two nations.
"We send sincere condolences to the people of Zambia following the passing on of Brenda Muntemba, Zambia's High Commissioner to Kenya.
"She was an astute diplomat, who endeavored to strengthen Kenya-Zambia relations and broaden our collaboration. May God give her family grace to bear this great loss. Rest In Peace," Dr Ruto said.
Following the death, Zambia is now set to send another envoy, who is expected to table credentials in State House, Nairobi for affirmation by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
