In a spot check conducted by Hivisasa on Friday, it emerged that a lot of residents have fallen victim to burglaries.

Father Innocentous Wambua who works in Mtito Andei told the press that his home was broken into and goods were stolen.

He said that despite him reporting to the assistant chief, no action was taken.

"My house was broken into and the thieves made away with two cookers, water pump, TV set, carpet cleaner and I told the assistant chief but no action was taken," said Father Wambua.

Fredrick Kilatya, another resident said that his sugarcane, coffee macadamia and chicken have been stolen from his farm.

He said the theft is conducted by idle youths who later sell the property to unsuspecting buyers.

Efforts to speak to ass chief kikambuani Leo Kingoo via phone were futile but Mbilini assistant chief denied ever receiving reports on the theft.

The residents now want the police to investigate and arrest the youths terrorising the residents.

"We have reported to our local administration but no help has been given. We urge the police to hunt for these people stealing from us and bring them to book," said Cecilia Keli, another resident.

She said that the issue is getting out of hand and something needs to be done.
