Two members of the Homabay County Assembly were charged afresh, moments after being released over a separate case.
Central Karachuonyo ward representative Julius Odhiambo Gaya and his Kagan counterpart Philemon Onyango were on Wednesday arraigned before Kisumu Principal Magistrate Christopher Yalwala over assault charges.
The court was told that the duo physically assaulted and injured David Elvis Ochieng', a court server a week ago, when he went to serve court papers at the assembly.
They denied the allegations and were released on a Sh20, 000 cash-bail or a Sh50, 000 bond with a surety of a similar amount, reports the Citizen Digital.
The two were arrested on Tuesday night, barely a day after their release from Kodiaga Prison in Kisumu where they had been remanded in the company of five others over allegations of assaulting assembly speaker Elizabeth Ayoo in October.
The two and others are accused of having landed on the speaker with beatings while accusing her of bias and incompetence, before she was rescued by assembly sergeant-at-arms.
The new case is set to be mentioned on November 30 alongside the initial assault case involving the speaker.
The case will be heard afresh on January 24, next year.
Speaker Ayoo has since been reinstated.
