Joseph Ongoro scored the ward representatives' winning goal in the dying minutes of the contest after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala had cancelled Paul Otunya's first-half early effort.

The two teams were rewarded trophies in the 2-0 thriller.

Speaker Kenneth Lusaka and Kakamega Senator Malala thrilled supporters with some beautiful skills, as the contest between legislators from the two houses picked momentum.

Malala would have given his lively side the lead on the 16th minute after he dribbled beautifully on the left-wing, his long-range strike blowing over the crossbar.

Otunya had the MCAs best effort moments later when he sent a rising shot, which hit the right corner of the goalpost but none of his colleagues managed to secure and convert a rebound.

On the 22nd minute, Otunya benefitted from a melee at the mouth of the Senate's goal to give his side the lead.

The MCAs would have added a  second but senate goalkeeper Wandambusi Sudi was alert and saved Maskini Okodoi's low shot from the corner area.

Three minutes to the break, the ward representatives lead came under threat from Kipchumba Murkonen's effort.

The Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator rounded his marker and sent a low shot which was cleared before going beyond the line.

Just like in the first period, the Senate started the second half brighter, with Michael Odira reacting fast to clear the ball to safety before on-rushing Murkomen could connect.

But goalkeeper Ongoro restored the  MCAs lead four minutes to time with a stunning free-kick.
