Speaking during an interview with K24 on Sunday, Makali said that Deputy President Wiliam Ruto can outsmart President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga if he woos Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi to his camp.

He argued that the two will give Uhuru and Raila a run for their money in the contest for power if they agree to work together before 2022.

According to Makali, both Ruto and Mudavadi enjoy the support of their people, and that they will make a formidable force if they decide to work together.

"An alliance between Ruto and Mudavadi will give Uhuru-Raila alliance a run for their money. Ruto should invest in Mudavadi," he said, according to a K24tv tweet.

The remarks come at the backdrop of pressure on President Kenyatta to publicly endorse Ruto for the top seat.

The handshake between Raila and Uhuru has left Ruto's camp in jitters. Uhuru has, however, maintained that he never promised to endorse Raila for the top seat as alleged.

"And even when I talk to this other man (Raila), I never tell him that we are talking so that he can get a big position. I tell him that we are talking because of the peace of this country and the future of our children," Uhuru said before the release of the BBI report last year, as quoted by the Star.
