Governor Ali Bunow Korane has finally fulfilled a promise he made earlier in supporting a bright but poor from Bula Mzuri area, Garissa county.
The girl identified as Zeitun Yussuf had performed extremely well in the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Primary Examinations (KCPE) but risked missing out high school studies due to her poor background.
Through the Deputy County Secretary Abdirashid Hussein, Korane supported the needy girl to a tune of KSh 50,000 for shopping of her secondary school needs.
The generous gesture comes just a week to the official reporting of form one students as directed by the Ministry of Education.
According to a statement released by the Korane via the Garissa County Press Unit Facebook page, the visit by the Abdirashid was just but the beginning of the several goodies that the governor is to deliver to the family.
"The visit by the DCS serves as a significant precursor of the Governor's planned visit to the family when he returns from an overseas trip and a follow up to the promise by the Governor to help the young girl pursue her dreams and help her family," reads the statement in part.
After an expose by a local TV station on Zeitun's case sometimes this month, Korane promised to support the girl and even supporting her entire family by building them a decent home.
