Kenya National Union of Teachers Treasurer John Matiang'i has decried the rampant transfers adding that they will contribute to breaking of families.

Speaking at Suba on Friday, Matiang'i insisted that the union would call for industrial action should TSC continue subjecting teachers to to 'torture'.

“My worry is that teachers are separated from their families for a very long time. But the big issue here is about who takes care of the ‘server’ in their absence?” Matiang’i asked.

He added: "Teachers cannot give birth and enjoy life with their wives effectively due to delocalisation. This policy does not add any value to teachers."

The official said transfers would even negatively impact on performance since they were affecting psychology of teachers.

He claimed that the policy was introduced to frustrate teachers by denying them their conjugal rights.
