Residents of Nyamataro area in Kitutu Chache South have attacked Interior CS Dr. Fred Matiang'i for failing to ensure police officers are protecting the people.
According to the locals led by Edwin Gekonde, the beheading of a boda boda rider whose body was found dumped at the roadside on Wednesday is a clear indication that police are lazy.
"We have nothing to celebrate about Matiang'i who has been chest thumbing around. He is doing nothing only good at ordering police to teargas unarmed people. We need tight security and not rushing to change police uniforms," said Gekonde.
Lillian Moraa condemned Matiang'i saying several people have been losing their lives in the hands of outlawed groups since Matiang'i took the oath of office as the Interior Cabinet secretary.
"Police must move with speed and probe the death of Dennis Mochache who was beheaded by people believed to be the illegal vigilante group. The culprits must be apprehended," she noted.
Japhet Nyamora said Matiang'i is lazy and a serious person should be appointed to replace him immediately.
"Our people can't continue losing lives yet there are officers who should offer protection. Criminals must be apprehended to be arraigned in court and not beheading them," said Nyamora.
The locals threatened to protest if Matiang'i won't come to their rescue and order police to intensify security patrols, especially at night.
