Ruto led a host of leaders including former area Senator Boni Khalwale and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen to the function.

However, it took a political turn when Murkomen took to the stage to bash Jubilee Party Vice Chair David Murathe over his calls for Ruto to retire and shelve his 2022 bid for the top seat.

On Monday, Ruto watched silently as his lieutenants fired shots at the President Uhuru Kenyatta faction of the party which seems very keen to scuttle his presidential bid.

Murkomen, in a veiled shot at Murathe and company, accused the latter of acting as a mouthpiece of people out to stamp on Ruto's ambition and his efforts to unite the country.

He said that the efforts will be in futility.

“Some people don’t just like seeing Kenyans coming together and staying peacefully. They will formulate stories and theories to cause hatred.

But we understand their game and we shall not dance to their tune because our eyes are set on the ball," he was quoted by the Nation.

However, though the fighting is all about him and his future ambitions, Ruto kept silent on the matter and avoided the 2022 debate.

Other leaders present included lawmakers Antony Kimani (Mukurweini), Aisha Jumwa (Malindi), Kimani Ichungwah (Kikuyu) among others.
