Deputy President William Ruto has asked opposition leader Raila Odinga to go slow with his approach to the working relationship with Jubilee administration, adding that he should allow President Uhuru Kenyatta to organise his government.
Speaking at Kiambaa on Sunday, Ruto also said he's keen to work with President Uhuru Kenyatta to mould Mr Odinga, whom he says is used to causing chaos and confusion in his entire political career.
"You know the other team (Raila) is used to chaos and demonstrations. This is not something you can have changed overnight. It will take time but I know, we shall teach them on how to behave. They cannot set us off the track in development," argued the DP.
While President Uhuru Kenyatta has openly hailed his partnership with Mr Odinga, Dr Ruto has expressed his reservations, often claiming that it's a wider plot to block his 2022 presidential bid for the advantage of the former Prime Minister.
The ICC debate was reignited during the Sunday church service at Kiambaa with Ruto asking Odinga to 'come slow since he even wanted Uhuru to be jailed at ICC'.
"The president and I are working well. Those other people should come slow. They came the other day and at some point even wanted Uhuru arrested and jailed. They should not destroy our working relationship," he added.
From 2010, President Uhuru Kenyatta and DP William were accused of crimes against humanity in the International Criminal Court but were cleared six years later. But the debate on their predicament seems now to be resurfacing, a move that could yet again escalate 2022 succession politics.
Raila and Uhuru decided to work together in 2018 March, an arrangement which probably caught many of their allies flat-footed. In the past, Uhuru has maintained that it's only him and Raila who understand that basis of their working relationship.
