Brian Kassaine, a neighbour to Jacque Maribe, has since convinced the police to be state witness in Monica Kimani's murder.
Mr. Kassaine, who resides at Lang'ata's Royal Park Estate, was arrested when it was established that he gave Joseph Irungu, Maribe's fiance, unlicensed gun which he attempted suicide.
On the night Monica is said to have died, Kassaine said, Mr. Irungu had rushed to his house, knocked severally and asked him to collect a gun and spent catridges from Maribe's house.
On further interrogation, Kassaine added, Irungu told him that he had a scuffle with Maribe and that he had decided to kill self. He further said Maribe had thrown his clothes out of the house after a slight argument.
At around 1am, Kassaine averred, Mr. Irungu also asked for paraffin to burn clothes which police suspect he was putting on during the alleged murder.
With no paraffin at Kassaine's house, Irungu is said to have used air freshener to burn the items which police are using as exhibits.
Two neighbours at Monica's Kilimani apartment claimed that Irungu was putting on a Kanzu, which police believe was burnt and a jacket to conceal evidence.
A maid Maribe's house is said to have led the police to the section where the clothes were burnt.
On Monday, the two love birds will be charged for murder after the DPP Noordin Haji insisted that evidence gathered was enough to convict the duo.
Maribe is currently at Lang'ata Women prison while Irungu is undergoing treatment following a botched suicide attempt.
