Kofi Annan's contributions to Kenyan peace deal that culminated into a grand coalition government in 2008 will forever be cherished by Kenyans.
The former UN Secretary General died on Saturday at Geneva- Switzerland after a short illness.
Coming at the time the country was burning following controversial 2007 elections, Annan would eventually settle on a team of eight politicians who brokered the deal between President Mwai Kibaki and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Raila, then ODM candidate, had claimed victory in the disputed polls that saw violence cost Kenya over 1300 lives.
In his team, James Orengo, Musalia Mudavadi, William Ruto and Dr. Sally Kosgei led the team in Serena Hotel talks.
The four would be appointed to the cabinet later on as Raila assumed Prime Minister post.
And for Kibaki, Moses Wetangula, Martha Karua, late Mutula Kilonzo and Prof. Sam Ongeri took the steering.
Of the eight politicians, Mutula Kilonzo died in 2013 shortly after winning Makueni senatorial seat.
Mr. Annan, until his death, was among members of Eminent personalities in Africa besides being a senior diplomat.
