Group chairman Winfred Kiboro said Me Mshindi, who is also an executive director, will be leaving on December 31st from the Kimathi Street based media house.

“The board notes with appreciation that he has been a key player as the company embarked on its transformation journey to transition from a purely legacy platform media house into an online first, digital content company of the 21st century,” said Mr Kiboro in the statement. “The board is grateful for his dedicated service and wishes him all the best in the coming years”.https://www.nation.co.ke/news/Nation-editor-in-chief-Tom-Mshindi-is-retiring/1056-4865852-1100wfb/index.html.

In his illustrious career that lasted for 24 years, Mshindi has served in various positions, among others, Nation reporter, Managing Editor, Daily Monitor Managing Director and Nation Media editor-in-chief, a position he held since 2015.

But Alai claims that Mr Mshindi could have been sacked to thwart his efforts from lobbying for Chief Executive Officer of the media house.

"Tom Mshindi forced to Retire. His attempts to be NMG CEO has been thwarted," he claimed. https://twitter.com/RobertAlai/status/1065991962862460928?s=19.

He leaves behind a divided media house that experienced massive sacking and redeployments of senior officers throughout his tenure.

In some quarters, he's accused of having been an agent to Jubilee adminstration, a claim he denies vehemently.
