The County Government of Kilifi is committed to bring to an end the land ownership crisis in the county. Since 2013, Governor Amason Kingi says his administration has conducted an aggressive titling survey programme with over 35,000 plots surveyed for titling purposes.

Speaking when he issued 291 letters of allotment to residents of Ukombozi Informal settlement scheme in Sokoni ward, Kilifi North Sub-County, Kingi indicated county surveyors are working closely with officers from the National Land Commission (NLC) to survey more land so that all Kilifi citizens own what is rightfully theirs and reap maximum returns from their land.

The move comes less than a week after Deputy President William Ruto, commissioned a team of Surveyors to the Majaoni settlement scheme, who will work in speed to provider tittle deeds to over 4,000 squatters of Majaoni Settlement Scheme in Kisauni, Mombasa County.

Ruto said more than 3,000 squatters at Majaoni, Kisauni and Aldina, Jomvu in Mombasa County will acquire title deeds, which will address the longstanding issue of marginalisation and enable productive land use.
