A sombre mood engulfed Chebilat township in Nyamira County on Sunday after a welder committed suicide by hanging himself inside his house.
The body of the deceased identified as Makori, who hailed from Bomorenda in Bonchari constituency, was found hanging from the roof of his house by neighbours.
Area police boss Michael Lesmum confirmed the incident saying the deceased moved to the house one week ago.
"Makori attempted to end his life by consuming poison one week ago. Neighbours broke into his house only to find his lifeless body hanging from the roof of the house," Lesmum said as reported by Egesa FM.
The police boss said the deceased has been working as a welder and before he moved to Chebilat, he worked at the neighbouring Sotik town.
He said the reason that led Makori to end his own life is yet to be established given that nobody knows history about his family.
"The body was moved to Nyansiongo Hospital morgue as probe into the matter commence," said Lesmum.
