The county boss said that the region is lagging behind in terms of development because elected leaders are divided along political lines.

Speaking while he was hosting the leaders at his house in Kisii, he said elected leaders must be held accountable for lack of development in the two counties.

"We have not seen development because elected leaders are divided. I'm appealing to elected members to be united and ensure problems facing our people are addressed properly before the president visits the region," he said.

Ongwae urged local politicians who lost during the 2017 polls to team up with winners to champion for development in the two counties.

"We must join together and cement unity as Omogusii and our leadership and without a doubt will benefit common people in the society. Political parties will not help in boosting the livelihoods of our people," he added.

He challenged locals to shun divisive politicians saying retrogressive politics has no profits in this country.

"Electorates deserve development and not be incited. As leaders we should preach peace in this country," he noted.
