The man is said to have left home at around 11 pm to find a church saying that he needed prayers.

The incident was confirmed by Kinanie location chief Nzau Komu who said that the man left his roommate in the house before meeting his death.

"He was with his roommate. He told him he has been hearing sounds of rats and having bad dreams. He said he had gone to see if there was an opened church so as to seek prayers because he felt his hands and legs tied whenever he sleeps," said Komu.

He said that the roommate slept as the man left and on waking up at 6 am the following morning, he realised the man had not returned and set out to find him.

"When his roommate asked around about the man a report came that a body had been discovered floating in River Athi at 39 bridge," he said.

The man had left his phone, shoes and shirt at the bridge.

His body was recovered by the police and taken to Shalom hospital mortuary.

Chief Komu warned residents against taking drastic actions whenever they are faced with difficulties in life.
