Kisumu Senator Fred Outa has condemned and called for a speedy probe into the mysterious murder of Sharon Otieno, a second year Medical Records student at Rongo University.
Outa wants the murder probe expedited, and those linked to it arrested and arraigned in court.
Speaking to journalists at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on Wednesday, the ODM senator asked investigative agencies to turn every stone and get the killers to book.
“It is sad that such a young life can be terminated by cruel people who don’t value life,” he said.
The Senator said that the country is mourning the young girl, adding that no one has a right to terminate another person’s life.
Outa noted that cases of university girls being killed by their alleged 'sponsors', and lovers are on the rise.
He pleaded with university girls to avoid people who could endanger their lives.
The second year university student was abducted on Monday together with Nation reporter Barrack Oduor, who managed to escape.
The body of the student was discovered at Kodera forest in Homa Bay on Tuesday.
The Director of Criminal Investigation (CID) George Kinoti has since dispatched an elite homicide team to probe the matter.
Migori Governor Okoth Obado’s Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo has since been arrested in connection to the murder.
