Ever since the high-profile shooting of a former finance CEC in which a governor was implicated, Idris Ahmed Mukhtar has been trending.
Hundreds of thousands of Kenyan citizens have been advocating for justice to be served but what many are yet to know is the events that led to his sacking.
While probing the events that led to the sacking of the former CEC, this writer can now reveal that Idris was sacked alongside other members of the executive working at the ex-governor Nathif Jama's regime.
In their sacking letters, the governor cited professional negligence, incompetence and most importantly, gross misconduct as the reasons of the sack.
“Neither have I personally granted approval to your absence office nor am I even aware of any event leading to such lengthy cases of absenteeism from your assigned station of work,” reads a letter dated July 25, 2016, that was signed by Jama.
“All the issues mentioned above amount to gross misconduct and also an explicit violation of the provisions of the official (government) duty as stipulated the law. In the exercise of the constitutional powers vested upon the governor, I hereby terminate all your services as the county executive immediately, effective the date of this official letter,” added the letter.
Other CEC members who were sacked together with Idris Mukhtar include Salah Yakub who was the CEC environment, Mukhtar Bulale ( CEC water) and Hussein Hajir ( CEC education).
