The trial of two suspects charged with attempted murder of former Garissa Finance Executive Idriss Mukhtar will start next month.
This was agreed during the mention of the case at the Milimani Magistrates court on Monday.
Trial Magistrate Francis Andayi asked the prosecution to supply all witness statements and evidence exhibits to the defence lawyers ahead of the start of trial on November 2.
Andayi said that once the trial starts it will not be adjourned for any reason.
“The prosecution should ensure that defence lawyers have all material before the start of the trial,” he said.
The prosecution said that it is ready for the trial but declined to disclose the number of witnesses to testify in the case.
Aden and Njoki are out on Sh500, 000 cash bail.
Meanwhile, detectives say that investigations to apprehend more suspects in the case is still on.
Two weeks ago, Idriss family wrote to the DPP and DCI complaining about over slow investigation.
The family through their lawyer Charles Kanjama alleged a plot to have the case swept under the carpet through political influence.
Idriss family demanded the arrest and prosecution of Garissa Governor Ali Korane and his brother Mohamed Bunow who they alleged to be masterminds in the case.
The DPP, however, refuted claims of political interference in the case insisting that his office is yet to receive investigation file from the DCI.
Governor Korane is among suspects who have being interrogated in connection with the attempted murder.
The Jubilee governor has, however, denied any involvement in Mukhtar’s attempted murder.
Mukhtar who has a bullet lodged in his head was airlifted to India three weeks ago for specialised treatment.
