Mwala MP Vincent Musyoka has launched a free bodaboda training in all the wards within his constituency.
The project meant to benefit more than 1500 youths was launched on Monday.
Speaking during the launch, Musyoka said bodaboda plays a big role in Kenya's economy.
"It is one of the key players in the business sector as they complement other means of transport," Musyoka said.
He said equipping the youth with such necessary documents like driving licenses is one way to make sure there is compliance with traffic laws.
"It's good to give youths such important documents to make sure they comply with traffic laws and also empower the youths who make up to 95 percent of bodaboda business," he said
The exercise will be sponsored by Mwala Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
"In my endeavor to serve the people of Mwala, I have officially launched the free training to all bodaboda riders. The exercise will see 1,500 youths trained, thanks to Mwala CDF kitty," Musyoka added.
The wards that will benefit from the project include Makutano, Masii, Muthetheni, Kibauni, Wamunyu, and Mbiuni.
The project has already kicked off in Masii ward with hundreds of youths attending the training.
Among those who attended the launch included Masii MCA Catherine Musau, Musyoka's personal assistant Japheth Kivuitu and Mwala sub-county youth leader Chris Mutinda Muthini.
The locals thanked the leaders for their support and will to help the local "mwananchi".
"We are so happy to get this training because many of us do not have the licenses. Others lacked the opportunity to attend schools because of poverty," said resident Martin Mutua.
