The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World Male Athlete of the Year Eliud Kipchoge was rewarded a top price at Laureus Awards that happened in Monaco.
Taking to his twitter account on Tuesday, Kipchoge revealed his prestigious award.
He went ahead to thank a group of six special people who made sure he thrived in his endeavors.
“I am honoured to be awarded the @LaureusSport Academy Excellent Achievement award last night. My gratitude goes to my family, coaches, GSC, @NN_Group, @Nike, @IsuzuKenya, my fans around the world, you are the reason for my success. Once again thank you!” he said.
His unmatched performance during last year’s world marathon in Berlin gave him the honour of holding this rare award.
Surprisingly, this award has only be awarded three times since the event started.
During the event, Kipchoge couldn't hide his joy as he received the award from fellow athlete and member of the academy Tegla Loroupe.
“I would like to thank my fans around the world for all their support. I believe that a running world is a peaceful world, a sporting world is a healthy world and that a sporting world is an enjoyable world,” said a happy Kipchoge.
