Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho lived up to his billing as a fashion icon when he graced the Eid Baraza on Wednesday at the Treasury Square in Mombasa.
The flamboyant governor put on a squeaky clean white robe, a turban, and dark shades.
To add cream on top of the cake, he had a sword tucked around his waist.
The ensemble gave him the perfect look of a traditional Sultan.
Also in attendance was Interior and Coordination of National Government Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i and other coastal leaders including Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff.
Dr Matiang'i wore an Islamic cap and a robe as a sign of solidarity with the Muslims.
He declared Wednesday as a public holiday early this week.
The governor said that the holy month of Ramadhan had seen Muslims embark on a spiritual journey of fasting and praying.
"I thank the Almighty God for allowing us to congregate in large numbers for this years Eid Baraza. We hosted Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiang’i and Najib Balala, the Chief Kadhi several Members of Parliament, and the residents of Mombasa. The occasion afforded us an opportunity to address pertinent issues affecting our people.
"The show of unity exhibited today by the political leaders is a true testimony that indeed our Country has a bright future. We shall continue offering our support to both President H.E Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga in the pursuit of uniting this great nation." Joho said.
Muslims from across the country celebrated the end of the holy month of Ramadhan with eating Halaal foods.
