Estranged Migori Governor Okoth Obado conceded to the police that there existed disagreement between him and slain university student Sharon Otieno over pregnancy.
In a blow by blow account to the investigators, Obado seems to suggest that the later girlfriend was trying to blackmail him using pregnancy.
"I did not have an issue with the pregnancy. I hae even suggested that I buy her a piece of land where she could stay with the child.
"However, she was insisting that I marry her, something that contributed to our disagreements," he said.
Detectives insist that the governor was at the scene of crime based on the phone call data and corroborated information from one of the suspect.
In the statement, Obado insists that he was in Nairobi during the fateful day adding that investigators may have missed the point.
"I was even in Nairobi. I met Evans Ondieki at Lavington Mall and attended a number of meetings in the city."
On October 8th Obado will know the fate of his bail application along with his aides Michael Oyamo and Caspal Obiero, who have also been accused of murdering Ms. Otieno.
