A man died in Embu on Monday after he chopped off his penis after a girl reportedly rejected his overtures.

Neighbours said they had Domic Mugo, 56, screaming after he used a pair of scissors to cut of the vital organ.

He dies as they rushed him to hospital as blood gushed from the injured part.

Neighbors said the man has had no history of intimacy but had turned wild over a woman he had met of late.

Those who arrived at the scene first said he cried cursing the women for rejecting him.

The woman was not immediately identified.

The incident at Ngerwe village left residents shocked.

The man's body was taken to the Embu Level Five Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
