Kiarie was elected in the 2017 general election on a Jubilee party ticket. The Dagoretti South MP is among youthful politicians in Nairobi County. 

Here are facts you didn’t know about the youthful lawmaker.

1. Birth 

Kiarie was born and in 1978 and raised up in Nairobi’s Dagoretti constituency.

He is the fourth-born in a family of eight children.

2. Schooling 

Kiarie studied at Kileleshwa Primary School for his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) before proceeding to Dagoretti High school for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate.

3. Graduate

In 2002, the Jubilee MP graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Education from the Kenyatta University.

In 2015, Kiarie graduated with a Masters of Arts Degree in Development Communication from Daystar University.

4. Acting/comedy career 

The Jubilee MP shot to fame in the 1990 ’s for mimicking KANU minister Joseph Kamotho and the late Mama Lucy Kibaki in a TV and radio comedy show ‘Redykyulass’.

Kiarie also run a comedy a cartoon strip for the Sunday Nation magazine in the 1990’s.

5. Politics 

Kiarie ventured into active politics in 2007 when he alongside other youths formed the ‘Vijana Tuungane’ movement.

He vied for the Dagoretti parliamentary seat but lost in the ODM nominations.

The MP was then appointed as the ODM Nairobi youth leader in 2007. In 2013, Kiarie again lost bid for the Dagoretti South MP. 

He lost out to Dennis Waweru of Jubilee Party.

In the run-up to the 2017 general election, he ditched Raila Odinga’s ODM Party and joined Jubilee Party.

He won the parliamentary seat on Jubilee ticket joining the few youthful city lawmakers.

6. Family

The MP is married and has children.

7. Hobbies

The Jubilee  MP likes acting, film directing and meeting with friends.

8. Political ambitions

The MP says that he is now focused on serving Dagoretti South residents.

He is among youthful politicians who are expected to shape Nairobi’s 2022 succession politics.
