For one Tracy Wanjiru, Tuesday was just like any other day until a huge blast hit DusitD2 premises at Nairobi’s 14 Riverside Drive.

Wanjiru, a hairdresser, warned her colleagues that something big would play out. They dismissed her.

What Wanjiru’s colleague did not know is that her instincts to terror were still alert after she survived the Westgate attack that happened on September 2015.

“I jumped back to the salon, told my colleagues to be keen because we were under attack. They dismissed me at first but when they heard wails and screams, everyone went into hiding,” Wanjiru told Nairobi News.

Wanjiru was working at the Westgate while seven months pregnant when the attackers stormed the building and killed several people.

The incident helped her develop tactics on what to do while one is under danger.

On Tuesday, as her friends ducked for cover over the flying bullets, Wanjiru went for her phone and called for help.

“Someone help us out stack there is a bomb at 14riverside drive.....pleasee..call police (sic),” Wanjiru called for help.

Wanjiru kept calling for help until when she was rescued.

“Guys am safe am out.......I thank everyone for your concern am safe.....I just thank God am safe. It’s a guy who came with an explosive, at secret garden hotel and exploded the place. ....the images in my mind are just soo scary,” she wrote.
