Speaking on Thursday during a Beyond Zero mobile clinic outreach at Mosop in Rongai Sub County, the county's First Lady asked those in need of cancer treatment to visit the Cancer clinic at Nakuru General Hospital.

She added that her office is in talks with AMREF to organize a medical camp for women with Obstetric Fistula, expected to be held soon.

“Those who have this condition Obstetric Fistula should register with the Beyond Zero staff or at the Nakuru General Hospital in preparation for the camp,” she said.

She asked parents to observe their children and identify any signs of deformity like clubfoot early enough so that the deformity can be rectified.

Speaking at the function, Director of Medical Services Dr. Solomon Sirma said cases of Hypertension and Diabetes were increasing at an alarming rate in the County.

“The increase of Hypertension prompted the county to have a cardiologist from the team of Cuban doctors who reported last week. The doctors offer a free consultation and prescribe medicine at a subsidized rate,” Sirma said.

For diabetic patients, added the doctor, the Diabetes clinic at the Nakuru General hospital offers free insulin to children under the age of 18.

“For older persons, the medicine is also subsidized,” he noted.

The County has two Beyond Zero mobile clinic vans, with each covering four rounds to each ward per year.
