A debate by Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen and Cherangany MP Joshua Kuttuny turned smoky as the two leaders went for each other’s jugular.
The debate was on the maize politics facing Rift Valley farmers where Kuttuny claimed there are cartels that were paid cash belonging to farmers.
Murkomen was seen to oppose the claim blaming the MP of politicizing the maize issue instead of looking for solutions.
However, things became hot when Murkomen alluded that Kuttuny is the ‘vocal Rift Valley MP’ mentioned in the drug case involving the Akasha brothers.
“As you speak here and accuse other people of all manner of things, do you know you are wanted by CIA and FBI in connection with people who were taken to the US over selling certain things,” the senator said.
Kuttuny, however, accused the senator of mudslinging him because ‘their ground is slippery and are looking on anything to hang on’.
“When some people see you doing well and cannot understand it, they will want to associate you with all manner of things,” Kuttuny responded.
However, Murkomen was adamant on the issue as their interviewer Hussein Mohammed followed up on it and asked whether Murkomen was referring to the MP mentioned by a local newspaper as being part of the drug cartels being sought by the US.
“Are you saying that the MP in the drug case is Kuttuny?” Hussein asked.
“Ask Kutunny if he is the one, he is here. And there are legal mechanism to sue if I am wrong, he can sue for defamation,” the vocal senator said.
