The group has formed a team which they seek to use to protect the March 9 truce between Uhuru and opposition boss Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Saturday, they declared war against their Central colleagues who have been attacking and condemning the President.

They have said that any attack on the President results to disrespect and is undermining the handshake, a trait that they will not accept.

The team of 8 leaders led by Ugunja lawmaker Opiyo Wandayi was speaking in Awendo, Migori County during the burial of area lawmaker Walter Owino's mother on Saturday.

"Those attacking the president are against the handshake. They want to drive a wedge between the president and our party leader.

We shall not sit back and watch the peace and tranquillity brought about by the handshake threatened," Wandayi was quoted by The Nation.

Other leaders who made a similar pledge include Mathare lawmaker Anthony Oluoch, Migori Senator Ochillo Ayacko, Ongongo were (Kasipul).

Also in the team is Peter Mascara (Suna West) and Tom Odege (Nyatike) among others.

The leaders said that the presidency is a national institution that must be protected at all cost.

This comes barely a week after Bahati lawmaker Kimani Ngunjiri and his Gatundu South Moses Kuria engaged the President in a spat, Kuria even accusing Uhuru of ignoring his Kiambu county on matters development.

However, the Nyanza team now says that Uhuru is a national President and should not be compelled to only concentrate on a specific part of the country.

"The president belongs to all Kenyans. He does not belong to Kiambu or Nyeri only. He is the president of us all and must be respected," said Mathare lawmaker.
