Some parents who spoke to Hivisasa disclosed that their daughters have been in and out of school since last week over the issue.

"This is my daughter here in Form One and she has been home for a week now. I am worried. She complained of stomachache but on arrival at the hospital, nothing is showing. It has forced me to bring her back, she finishes her exam then I will see what to do. She still feels unwell," one of the parents told Hivisasa.

Another parent who requested not to be named said that "My daughter is in Form Two. Why Nyabururu always?. I have arrived now to see my daughter after I was informed by the administration via a text that my daughter is unwell. I have met other parents here too. Let them change the school menu for our children."

She added that "if it's school fees we will discuss."

After investigations by Hivisasa, it emerged that the school has been releasing students in bits since last week to avoid congestion and protests from parents.

"It's like they don't want us, parents, to meet because of chaos that might erupt. I have met my daughter and she is unwell. I am going home with her. It's like they are releasing students in bits. I have also come to fetch a daughter to my friend who is Nairobi," noted another parent who was at the school's waiting bay.

Up to now, it has not clear what has caused the illness.

The school's principal, Joyce Orioki, however, confirmed the allegations and said the affected students are few and it's because of the weather change.

She dismissed claims that the students were affected by the food offered at the institution.

In March this year,  several students were hospitalised in various hospitals in Kisii town over food posing.

Parents stormed the institution and demanded to have their daughters released from school to seek medical attention elsewhere. Left with no choice, the school had to oblige to the parents' demands.
