Murathe, who resigned from Jubilee, had maintained a low profile before he surfaced in Yatta where he met Kalonzo during a Wiper party meeting to counter the political rebellion in Ukambani region.

It, however, remains unclear what the two leaders are up to.

Murathe caused a political storm in the country when he declared that Deputy President William Ruto is not guaranteed a direct ticket for the Presidency in 2022 polls.

The remarks left Ruto’s allies uncomfortable to the point that they ensured Murathe was smoked out of the political outfit.

The meeting between the two leaders comes at a time when Kalonzo is fighting to tame governors Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Charity Ngilu (Kitui).

The three county bosses have accused Kalonzo of using Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) to frustrate them while they deliver on the promises they made to the residents.

The trio wants Kalonzo to be replaced as Kamba political kingpin to pave way for a youthful and able leader.

They argue that Kalonzo is no longer relevant in the political arena and time for his retirement has come.

Kalonzo’s diehards are, however, not convinced by the three governors.
