A politician allied to the Raila Odinga-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party has lauded Interior CS Fred Matiang'i's track record.
Kisii County Woman Representative Janet Ong'era argued that Matiang'i should be accorded respect because he was appointed by President Uhuru Kenyatta due to his good work.
"President Uhuru had confidence in Matiang'i and chose him as the super minister, a position which is similar to the prime minister post. We should be happy because one of our own is coordinating all government projects across the country," said Ong'era.
"The young politicians moving across the country in helicopters tarnishing Matiang'i's good name are jealous and using Matiang'i's name to get political mileage. I want to tell them to stop so that Matiang'i can get ample time to work for Kenyans," she added
The woman rep further argued that Matiang'i deserves a better seat in 2022.
The vocal lawmaker appealed to leaders to join hands and throw their weight behind Matiang'i to run for the country's top seat in 2022.
She noted that Gusii leaders should stop being their own enemies, and warned them against tarnishing Matiang'i's name.
She was speaking at a burial in Nyabisabo, Nyaribari Chache on Friday.
