In his last two tours of Mt Kenya region, the former Eldoret North MP managed to net two lawmakers who together with other MPs in the vote-rich region may be expected to market his presidential candidature as 2022 draws closer.

The two lawmakers who accompanied the DP during the tour included Kiambu Woman Representative Muthoni Wa Muchomba and Kieni MP Kanini Kega who is from Nyeri County.

The DP during the visit in the region that is known for its block voting patterns was touring the Irene Stefani 'Nyaatha' shrine in Nyeri County as well as the launch of development projects in Kiambu on September 9 as well as on August 30, 2018.

Wa Muchomba and Kega since the conclusion of the August 8 general election were rarely seen with Ruto and their decision to accompany the DP during his visit may be interpreted to mean that they may be warming up to join the deputy president's campaign camp as the former ODM MP bids to become Kenya's fifth commander in chief when Uhuru officially leaves State House in about four years time.

Other leaders from Central Kenya already marketing Ruto's name for the presidency are Kimani Ichung'wa (Kikuyu), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and MP Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu).
