According to a source who identified himself as Sosten Kirwa, the guard died after he was attacked by an armed group of thugs.

The thugs had allegedly stormed a Moi University farm in Kesses.

It is not yet clear what the thugs were targeting though it is suspected they wanted to steal the university's maize at the farm.

"The incident happened around 9 pm on Tuesday," the source told Hivisasa.

"Security guards confronted the thugs and as a result of the fight, one of them died," he added.

Four suspects were later arrested while seeking treatment at a nearby health facility after sustaining injuries in the fight between them and the university security guards.

Moi University has recently recorded several deaths of its students that has occurred under unclear circumstances and locals in nearby areas are now planning to stage a peaceful protest over the security situation at the Kesses-based university.

"Villages like Chebarus, Chepkoiyo, Lelmolok, Chemina, Kaptum, Kabongwa, Kibabet and Chesunet will storm the university seeking answers for the continuous killings of students, workers and people from the community," noted Kirwa.
