An elected Member of Parliament allied to Deputy President William Ruto in Kisii County has been caught up in the graft.
A section of Nyaribari Chache residents has accused the area MP Richard Tong'i of embezzling public funds.
The angry locals claimed that the MP organized for sports in the constituency using CDF money instead of initiating development projects in the constituency.
"Tong'i has copied DP Ruto's style of looting public funds. We warned him against being close to DP Ruto but, he could not take our advice seriously. DP Ruto has now trained him on the avenues he should use to steal public funds," said a furious local Brian Okako.
Eunice Nyaberi faulted Tong'i for funding the sports using public money but, he has failed to empower women, youth and disabled people.
"The lawmaker should use the money to help women and youth to start small businesses and not funding sports which will not help in boosting livelihoods. He should be held accountable for the misuse of public funds," she stated.
Robert Okioma claimed that the MP blackmailed constituents by funding the sporting activities.
"We are being blackmailed by Tong'i. It is high time EACC, DPP and DCI to investigate the MP for misusing public money," noted Okioma.
