A woman admitted and put in isolation at the Kericho County Referral hospital over suspected case of Ebola has tested negative for the disease.

In a statement t newsrooms on Monday, the Ministry of confirmed that tests conducted on the woman revealed that she was negative for any Viral Hemorrhagic fever.

“The results if the tests carried out by the Kenya Research Institute (KEMRI) laboratories on the blood samples from the 36 year old lady who is currently admitted in the isolation at the Kericho County Referral Hospital have been confirmed to be NEGATIVE for Ebola Viral disease (EVD) and other Hemorrhagic fevers,” a statement signed by Heath Cabinet Secretary (CS) Sicily Kariuki reads in part.

The CS assured Kenyans that there is no case of Ebola in the country, adding that the government is, however, prepared in terms of Ebola prevention and response.

“The Ministry of Health wishes to reiterate to the general public t and health facilities that we are well prepared in terms of Ebola prevention and response measures and therefore there is no need for panic.

The health CS confirmation comes as a relief as the country was engulfed into a state of panic over a possible outbreak of Ebola.

Several counties neighboring Kericho had already set up isolation wards after the news broke out on Monday morning.

The woman in isolation was travelling to Nairobi from Malaba town on the Kenya- Uganda boarder and experienced symptoms of headache, fever and vomiting.
