Machakos is a unique county.
Do you know that both Governor Alfred Mutua and his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko operate from Machakos County?
Efforts to take Sonko back to City Hall have proven futile after the county boss maintained that he will not change his mind.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Jeff Koinange Live show, Sonko said he operates from his Mua home because that is where his late father was buried.
Sonko said his late father was the best thing that ever happened to him.
The governor said he will not succumb to the pressure mounted on him by various leaders especially, Nairobi MCAs to return to City Hall.
“My father was laid to rest in Mua. He was my best friend. I really miss him a lot. I go to Mua because his grave is there, he had a lot of hopes in me," Sonko said.
Sonko said he had no plans to leave his Mua home for his City Hall offices.
He said those pushing for his relocation to the city will be in for a rude shock.
Sonko argued that his Mua home is only a few kilometers from Nairobi.
“When I was elected as the governor, I was staying in Mua and I will never leave Mua. I will never leave my father’s grave,” Sonko said.
