Kisumu Town West lawmaker Olago Aluoch is a skilled businessman man who owns a rare kind of business venture.
Aluoch is an owner of an entire island within Lake Victoria dubbed Maboko Island.
On the island measuring 5 acres, he has developed the Maboko Island Resort which comes complete with an Island.
For those who cannot afford the mode of transport, it is accessible through powerboats from Seme or Kisumu.
The island is about one hour travel from Kisumu, and boasts of cottages and other hotel amenities.
In an interview with the Standard in the run-up to his 2017 re-election, the third term parliamentarian revealed that the establishment is paying handsomely.
At the time, he revealed, he could cash in up to half a billion shillings in annual income but after being pushed to the wall.
"Okay, let’s say, conservatively, about half a billion Kenyan shillings," he revealed.
However, Aluoch maintained that he is not rich!
"Tell you what, I don’t think I’m rich in that sense. But I’m passionate about what I do. I set my mind to it, and I decided I wanted to be an owner of this island. And I made it happen," he added.
