1. Betty Kyallo

The celebrated news anchor is among the sought-after talents in journalism circles. Kyallo was an outstanding presenter at KTN, her future is still bright. She is also a successful businesswoman with great interests in the fashion and beauty sector.

Despite numerous controversies, Kyallo is a great Ukambani product. She has been able to sail through her marriage storms and fallout with best friend and business partner at Posh Palace hair and Beauty Salon, Susan Kaittany.

2. Prophetess Syokimau

The second in this list is a little known but powerful woman from Ukambani. Prophetess Syokimau is the person behind the famous Syokimau Estate and Railways terminus. They were named after her. Born and raised in Iveti Hills, Syokimau predicted the coming of Europeans and subsequent construction of the railway line. It is also claimed that she foresaw and warned the Akamba about the impending attacks from the neighboring Agikuyu and Maasai. Indeed, she was a great woman who did several things that men could not.

3. Charity Ngilu

Charity Kaluki Ngilu is a strong woman. In fact, she is stronger than most men. Born in Mbooni, Ngilu is among the three maiden female governors. She is the head of Kitui County and represented Kitui Central constituency in parliament for over 20 years, from 1992-3013. Ngilu has achieved a lot in the cooperate world, public service sector and in her private life. She is the lioness of Ukambani.
