On Tuesday, Tabichi held talks with various leaders at sidelines of United Nations assembly in New York, his first ever experience at the event.

On his Facebook, Tabichi said he was still in shock, adding that he thought that he was still dreaming even though it was a reality that indeed, he was in a global meeting.

"What a privilege! I don’t know whether I was dreaming sitting next to global leaders, education ministers and development agencies at a UN event in NY. God has His own plan," he wrote.

Mr Tabichi, who hails from Nyamira, won the award this year, a move that led to celebrations at his Mokorongosi village with top county leaders attending.

Last week, Tabichi held talks with President Donald Trump of the United States, with their talks centering on science and education.

"To me it was a great honour and privilege to meet US President Trump. I took that opportunity to share with him on where I teach, how I teach and challenges we encounter. I appreciated him over his role in promoting science and education.

"I can say that he was so happy, he listened to me carefully. I believe that there is light at the end of the tunnel that he's going to support science and education in his agenda," he said.

This week, Mr Tabichi will get an exceptional opportunity to address the UN assembly, and will become the first ever professional to accorded the opportunity.
