The Islamic State has announced that it has a new leader following the death of its founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi who was killed in a night-time raid conducted by United States of America commandoes.
Its new leader is Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qorashi who is not known outside the ranks of the terror group.
Terror experts contend that the name is possibly a pseudonym.
A confirmation was also given by the group that al-Baghdadi had indeed been killed in the raid on his compound in Idlib, northeastern Syria.
In an audio statement that was uploaded, the group mourned al-Baghdadi and spokesman Abu Hassan al-Muhajir, who was killed in another attack by American forces, after al-Baghdadi's death and who was next in line to the leadership of the group.
The Islamic State also took time to fire a warning at the United States of America, sending strong signals that it had every intention to avenge the deaths of its leaders.
"“Do not be happy America, for the death of Sheikh al-Baghdadi, and do not forget the cups of death at his hands, may God accept him, " the terrorist group warned.
The new leader was installed after long consultations among members of the Islamic State consultative council.
President Donald Trump hailed the decapitation of Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi from the Islamic State's leadership hierarchy as a great blow to terrorism.
