Erick Okong'o, the area senator, vowed to ensure public funds are used appropriately by Nyagarama's administration.

"I was elected by the people of Nyamira to be the monitor on Nyagarama.

"I will not tolerate him if he abuses his power he was given by the people. Public funds should be used appropriately to launch projects for the sake of improving our people's lives," he said.

He urged  Nyagarama not to hesitate sacking corrupt individuals who will be out to steal public funds to accumulate wealth.

He said corruption is an enemy to development and therefore, county workers should be satisfied with their monthly salaries.

"County workers engaging in corruption should not be spared. Nyagarama should tame corrupt workers and hire people who are ready to work," he said.

He urged residents not to lose trust in him because he is committed to oversight on the county expenditure.

Okong'o called on opponents to wait until 2022 because this is his tenure to serve the people of Nyamira.

He was speaking on Thursday when he toured Nyamira County hospital.
