On November 19th, 2016, Kenya Film Classifications Board chairman (KFCB) Ezekiel Mutua threatened to arrest Kamba secular artist Alex Kasau due to his stage name 'Katombi'.
Speaking in Embu when he paid a courtesy call to the Regional Commissioner, Eastern Region Elias Kithaara, the moral cop warned Kasau against using the name lest he is arrested.
Mutua said the name was compromising with the moral standards in the music industry.
Katombi was not happy with the move.
The musician claimed he was being barred from being creative.
"If you can't be creative in a positive way to build moral values and help the society grow, you have no business in this country. You, therefore, have no business in the industry," Mutua said.
The musician asked Mutua to confirm the meaning of the name in the Kamba dictionary before calling for his arrest.
The controversial musician has been among the most popular artists in the Ukambani region.
Katombi's music is loved by both the young and the elderly.
His performances are 'electrifying'.
Despite facing legal issues, the artist has been going places with his music.
His songs are played in different clubs across Machakos County and other parts of the Ukambani region.
