Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o on Tuesday morning led a section of county officials and journalists in a minute silence in honor of departed colleague Lillian Otieno.
She was a reporter for Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in Kisumu.
The one minute silence was observed before the start of a breakfast meeting between the governor and members of the media.
On Wednesday April 03, 2019, journalists in Kisumu will hold a fundraiser to raise money that will go into funeral arrangements.
The Governor said that the Director of the Governor’s press unit Mr. Aloice Ager will attend the funds drive on behalf of the county.
“Mr. Ager will attend the fundraiser and he will be able to tell you what the county will do following the death of your colleague,” he said.
Lillian Otieno died on the 22nd of last month while receiving treatment at the Victoria Hospital in Kisumu.
She had been rushed to hospital a few days before her death after complaining of severe headache. Doctors had recommended that she goes for other tests to establish whether the headache was being caused by meningitis.
Before joining KBC more than five years ago, the veteran journalist worked for Radio Sahara and Radio Namlolwe in Kisumu.
